Chandigarh, September, 27:2017, Under the campaign initiated by Punjab government, to eradicate the evil of drugs, the Punjab Police is organizing a ‘Daurta Punjab’Mini marathon race, on the birth anniversary of Sardar Bhagat Singh, on Thursday at Fazilka. The main purpose of this marathon race is to show the way for the youth to stay away from drugs and motivate them to do something to bring pride for the country, state and their families.

Giving further details about marathon official spokesperson of the state Government said that, this marathon race would start from parade ground of Police Line at 9 am and would conclude at the Shaheedi Memorial at Asaf Wala. He said that ADGP Welfare-cum-Armed Sanjeev Kumar Kalra would be the chief guest at this occasion. Apart from him, IG Bathinda Zone Mr. M.S China, DIG Ferozepur Range Rajinder Singh, SSP of Bureau of Police Research Development from Delhi Mr. DS Sandhu would also participate in this event. On this occasion, they would also pay floral tributes on the Samadhi of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh.

“A cultural program would be organized, in which, popular comedian Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi would interact with the youth and folk dance Gidha, Bhangra and marshal art Gatka would also be performed”, he added.

More than 3,000 youth have so far registered for "Daurta Punjab Marathon" and the number is expected to increase further. This marathon would start from the police line and conclude the 12-km journey at the Shaheedi Memorial at Asafwala.

The drinking water and refreshment would be given to the participants. The winner of the marathon race would be honored with Hero Honda Motor Cycle, while the first runner up would be honored with Rs. 11000 and the second runner up with Rs 5100 / -. Apart from this, 60 more winners would be awarded with courageous prizes and certificates will be given to all the youth participating in the race.
