AIDS Control Society organized ‘Medical cum awareness Campaign
CHANDIGARH, 15 DEC 2017. Servants of the People Society (SOPS) in collaboration with Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society organized ‘Medical cum awareness Campaign on HIV/AIDS’ at Local Bus Stand Sector 17, Chandigarh on 15th December 2017. The aim behind the event was to spread the awareness against HIV/AIDS and suggest its preventive measures.
Sh. RB Singh, Station Supervisor , ISBT Sector 17 was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the Health cum Awareness camp. Nukkad Natak (Play) on HIV/AIDS awareness was also performed by Vijay Arts Group. The focus of the play was on safe sex practices, use of condoms to prevent HIV/AIDS. Around 150 people aware from the camp about HIV/AIDS.
52 patients were examined by Dr. Sarwan Kaushal in the camp and given free treatment and medicines. 38 Blood samples for HIV testing were also taken at Mobile ICTC Van of Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society in the Camp. Mr. Kamaljit Singh, Project Manager, Servants of the People Society addressed the gathering and educated them about HIV/AIDS. He explained the various modes of transmission of the disease, the methods of prevention and the various activities being undertaken by Servants of the People Society in order to control the disease.
Free Condoms, IEC material (Information Education Communication) was also distributed among people for generating awareness about HIV/AIDS. Please find enclosed photographs of the health camp.
