Administrator unveils Swachh Survekshan IEC material

to be used in awareness campaign


Chandigarh, January 4:- Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh today unveiled Swachh Survekshan IEC material to be used in the month long awareness campaign scheduled to be held throughout Chandigarh by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.

During the unveiling ceremony, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner and Dr. Saurabh Mishra, IAS, Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh were also present.

Citing the importance of Swachh Survekshan and Swachhta, the Administrator said that it is prime duty of every citizen to try their level best for keeping their household, workplace and city clean. He said that there is no doubt that MCC is doing their level best for keeping and maintaining the cleanliness throughout city on daily basis but citizen should also know their responsibilities to hand over the generated household waste to the civic body in segregated manner.

He appealed to the citizens to give their household waste to the Corporation in segregated manner and follow the parameters of making their city a garbage free city.

The Administrator released Swachh Survekshan-2019 citizen feedback poster, segregation of waste at source level, Swachhata MoHUA App and other posters to be used in month long campaign.

While elaborating the IEC scheme, Sh. K.K. Yadav, Commissioner, MCC said that the IEC activities will be organized throughout city markets, residential areas, public libraries, govt. offices, hospitals, malls and educational institutes till the survekshan ends. He said that the a display van carrying messages of Swachhta including segregation of waste at source level, onsite composting, downloading of Swachhata MoHUA app, citizen feedback related questions etc. will display short movies of SBM and audio clips during the activities.

He said that besides creating awareness through display van, the MCC will organize “Swachhata fairs at RWAs and MWAs, Art competitions will be organized in schools, sanitation hackathan, awareness camps regarding sanitation and hygiene, meetings with Self Help Groups, development of exclusive caller tune, SBM city wallpaper, city song and collaborations with prominent business organizations such as hotels, hospitals, coaching centres and malls etc.

The Commissioner further said that the motive behind the IEC activities and awareness campaign is to make Chandigarh No.1 in ensuing Swachh Survekshan-2019. He appealed the citizens of Chandigarh to participate in Swachh Survekshan and put their best efforts to get 1strank for their city beautiful this time.
