TESOL Academy inaugurated Park Plaza, Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH 24 APRIL 2015, TESOL Academy India 2015 was inaugurated today at hotel Park Plaza, Chandigarh, being organized by the Regional Institute of English, Sector 32, in collaboration with Regional English Language Office, US Embassy, New Delhi and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language), International association.

This TESOL Academy is designed by TESOL US Internationalassociation with more than 10 thousand members across the world, to help teachers in India and surrounding regions meet the needs of their students, who come to the classroom from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of learning styles and expectations. Grounded in the latest research, the academy features six workshops that relate to pedagogy, assessment, technology in the classroom, and course design.

The Chief Guest for the occasion, Mr Vijay Dev, Advisor to Administration, Chandigarh Administration inaugurated the function and shared his experience as a student and the importance of education in one’s life.

Keynote speaker Prof. Andy Curtis, President TESOL International Association spoke on importance of Language acquisition and Language as a binding force.

The Director of the Regional Institute of English, Dr Sharda Kaushik spoke on the importance of Teacher Education and highlighted the working of the institute.

Ms Diane Millar, Regional English Language Office, US Embassy, New Delhi delivered the welcome address.

Ms Sarah Sahr, Director Education Programs, TESOL Association enlightened the participants about the TESOL Academy.

180 delegates are participating in the TESOL Academy, 25 teachers from other countries  like Brazil, Oman, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Malaysia are attending this academy.
